From October 19th to 21st, 2024, Maureen Kazira Kenyanya, a 2024 mentee of the Impact Wave Initiative (IWI), provided meaningful support to the East African Mission Orphanage. This orphanage is home to 69 children, categorized by age as follows:
- 0-6 years: 1 boy
- 7-10 years: 1 boy and 1 girl
- Teens: 37 boys and 29 girls
Purpose of the Visit
The primary goals of this initiative were:
- To offer love, encouragement, and a sense of belonging to the children.
- To impart essential life skills, including:
- Personal grooming and mental health awareness.
- Discovering their purpose and achieving academic excellence.
- Developing meaningful friendships and goal-setting strategies.
- Building self-confidence and staying positive despite life’s challenges.
- To create a safe space for open dialogue through a one-on-one Q&A session, addressing their questions, concerns, and aspirations.
Donations Provided
With the generous contributions of well-wishers, the children received:
- Clothing
- Toiletries: Tissue paper, sanitary towels, soap, body oil, washing powder, and detergents.
- Food supplies: Flour, rice, sugar, salt, and juice.
- Footwear: Shoes suitable for various ages.
